Former Barca teen star Fati seals permanent Monaco switch
Monaco confirmed the signing of Ansu Fati from Spanish champions Barcelona on Tuesday after a successful loan spell at the club.
Spain international Fati, 23, signed on until 2030 with the Ligue 1 side for a fee estimated to be 11 million euros ($12.5 million), with Barcelona retaining a "percentage of any future sale" according to the La Liga side.
"AS Monaco is pleased to announce the activation of the purchase option for Ansu Fati," Monaco said in a statement.
A series of severe injuries dogged Fati's early promise at Camp Nou, where he made his debut as a 16-year-old and inherited Lionel Messi's number 10 shirt and playing more than 100 matches.
Fati came through the club's La Masia academy, and first moved to Brighton on loan in 2023 before a switch to Monaco where he clicked into form last season.
The forward netted 12 goals in 30 appearances for Monaco across all competitions and was the club's second-top goalscorer.
